Thanks! - Harmony day and Movie fest

Harmony day is to celebrate the cultural diversity in Australia, a multicultural/multiracial nation. The day is celebrated around Australia on 21st March.

QUT Japan joined the festival in QUT, KG, and had a market/food stall and an information stall. Also we performed an international collaboration dance as well as an awesome Japanese pop-music dance :)))
















QUT international film festival was joint-organized in the week, and QUT Japan hosted a Japanese movie night on 22nd March. We showed The Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi 座頭市 by Takeshi Kitano, with a real Samurai performance!



Thanks to the support from the Guild and East West of QUT, and volunteers from our members, both events were really successful.
The profit goes to Tohoku disaster relief.

Harmony Day Fest and International Film Fest !!!

Our biggest event in this semester is coming on Wednesday, 21st March!!!

It's a Harmony day festival, where we celebrate our cultural diversity in QUT and Australia with various international groups.
QUT Japan is having a Market and Info stall. We are selling Japanese goods, toys and food (with a help of the licensed provider). Also info stall provides an updated info about earthquake and tsunami disaster area in Tohoku as well as QUT Japan's latest info.

Our profit goes to Tohoku disaster relief.

Plus, an international film fest is joint-organized during the week (19st-22nd March).
QUT Japan is showing ... "The Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi 座頭市" by Takeshi Kitano on 22nd March (Thu) in KG campus!

One year since the 3.11

QUT Japan started right after the Earthquake and Tsunami disaster on 3.11 in 2011. The catastrophic disaster deeply damaged Tohoku area and affected many people directly/indirectly. Some students in QUT got together to seek for what they could do from down under.

Our first act was one-week fundraising, Sushi stall in QUT campus. Thanks to the support from International Student Service (ISS) and the Student Guild of QUT as well as many students/staffs, we could raise AU$5,200. Since then, we have been organizing various events including another sushi stall, conversation/language point and Japan town festival on campus.

From this semester, our events are shifting to more cultural ones like language class, conversation point, multicultural festivals, etc. However the motivation has been the same: Supporting the recovery of Japan and Spreading Japanese culture in Brisbane.

We are QUT "Japan" but rather international association for all interested in Japan/Japanese cultures. Please come along and join our events! We wish you to get to love our country more, and someday, to visit there!
