About Us
<How we started>
QUT Japan was established after the devastating earthquake, tsunami happened in the north part of Japan (東北: Tohoku) on 11th March 2011.
With support of QUT International Student Services (ISS) and Student Guild, we could have a Sushi event at both Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove campus from 22th to 25th of March 2011. We sold Sushi, drinks and ask people for donation as well.
In the end of the week, we could raise A$5,200.
Without the support of QUT and people who joined the event, we could not raise such a great amount of money. We do appreciate everyone!
Additionally, we could receive Group Volunteer Award from QUT, which was very unexpected.
We did not take an action to get a award, but we are happy that what we have done was appraised.
We will continue to plan events for fundraising and prepare the opportunity to share our culture.
