One year since the 3.11

QUT Japan started right after the Earthquake and Tsunami disaster on 3.11 in 2011. The catastrophic disaster deeply damaged Tohoku area and affected many people directly/indirectly. Some students in QUT got together to seek for what they could do from down under.

Our first act was one-week fundraising, Sushi stall in QUT campus. Thanks to the support from International Student Service (ISS) and the Student Guild of QUT as well as many students/staffs, we could raise AU$5,200. Since then, we have been organizing various events including another sushi stall, conversation/language point and Japan town festival on campus.

From this semester, our events are shifting to more cultural ones like language class, conversation point, multicultural festivals, etc. However the motivation has been the same: Supporting the recovery of Japan and Spreading Japanese culture in Brisbane.

We are QUT "Japan" but rather international association for all interested in Japan/Japanese cultures. Please come along and join our events! We wish you to get to love our country more, and someday, to visit there!
